Professional Certification Programme

This is a four-level programme designed to provide professional training for university and polytechnic graduates who desire to practice human resource management in organizations. The minimum entry requirement for Level One is a Higher National Diploma or a first degree.

However, individuals who hold university degrees and/or post graduate qualifications in human resource management enter the programme at Level Three (Professional Level).

The Certification Exams are conducted twice a year (January and July). Students who successfully pass the exams at Level Three are admitted into the Institute as Associate Members. Associate Members are deemed Certified HR Practitioners after completion of a project work at Level four, and achieve a minimum of three years practical work experience.

ACADEMIC EQUIVALENCE OF THE PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME

The Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (Ghana) is a registered professional body which seeks to advance human resource management practice in Ghana.
The 4- level Professional Certification Programme (PCP) organized by the Institute is designed to provide professional training for university and polytechnic graduates who desire to practise human resource management in organizations. The minimum entry requirement for level 1 is a Higher National Diploma.
Individuals who hold university degrees and/or post graduate qualifications in human resource management enter the programme at level three.
Students who successfully complete level three, the final project work at level four, and achieve a minimum of four years practical work experience are admitted to the Institute as Certified HR Practitioners.
Being a professional body, the professional certification programme of the Institute does not come under the jurisdiction of the National Accreditation Board.
Given the fact that the PCP is a professional programme, the Institute has not sought, and does not intend to establish its equivalence with academic qualifications.
In line with best practice, a Certified HR Practitioner who works for an organization should be placed and rewarded based on the value and, therefore, the classification of the job or role he/she has been employed to perform.
