The HR Professional and Legal Compliance

THE 4 CS IN HUMAN RESOURCE LEGAL RELATIONS

Legal relations define the obligations and rights of the parties to the contract.

Between April 2005 and December 2015, The National Labour Commission (NLC) recorded 7449 complaints which averaged 748 disputes per year. This is an indication of the challenges that Management and Employees in Ghanaian Organisations face in maintaining legal relations. Some major reasons given by the NLC for the disputes can be summarized in the poor management of the 4Cs i.e Contract of Employment, Collective Agreement, Conditions of Service and Compliance with the Laws.

While templates have been provided in the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) for adoption, it is important that practitioners are able to clearly articulate their requirements to ensure a harmonious working environment for optimum productivity
